Dr.
Leonid Shapiro
Managing Partner and Founder
Leonid is a medical doctor, entrepreneur, and management consultant and oversees Candesic's corporate and commercial due diligence work. He has consulted to Fortune 100 companies in the areas of healthcare, technology, and communications focusing on strategy, marketing, and organization. Prior to founding Candesic, Leonid was a senior consultant at McKinsey & Company, London, working heavily in healthcare and technology. He has also consulted to Hewlett-Packard in medical imaging product development. Leonid’s entrepreneurial ventures include being COO of a $126m software company and CEO of a telecommunications firm. He holds a D.Phil. from Magdalen College, Oxford in Radiological Imaging, a MD from Duke University in North Carolina, and an undergraduate degree in Physics from Cornell University, and is fluent in Russian and English. |

Dr.
Victor Chua
Partner and Healthcare Practice Leader
Victor is a medical doctor and management consultant. He is responsible for Candesic's corporate strategy and due diligence efforts in healthcare services and social care (hospitals, care homes, domiciliary care, fostering), medical devices (implants, diagnostics, instruments), and pharmaceuticals (generics, ethical launches, trials software/services, etc). He has particular expertise in interviewing senior physicians. Prior to Candesic, Victor was a consultant in McKinsey and Company where he worked mainly in pharmaceuticals. Prior to consulting, he was an ophthalmic surgeon in the Addenbrookes and Leicester Hospital NHS Trusts. He holds a MB BChir from Cambridge University and is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. |

Marc Kitten
Partner and Financial Services Practice Leader
Marc has more than 15 years of experience of financial markets. He serves financial institutions including investment banks and private equity funds and manages Candesic operations in continental Europe. He is also an affiliate professor of finance at ESCP-EAP in London, and a visiting lecturer in finance and strategy at Edhec, Imperial College, Cass Business School, ENPC ParisTech, IUM and Sciences-Po MBA. Prior to joining Candesic, Marc was a senior consultant at McKinsey & Co. and a Vice-President at Deutsche Bank Global Markets. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago GSB, completed the Young Managers Programme at INSEAD and graduated from Edhec Business School in France. Marc speaks fluent French, English and German, and conversational Spanish and Russian.

Goncalo Silva
General Manager Iberian Office
Gonçalo is a management consultant and an entrepreneur in charge of Candesic operations in Spain and Portugal. He has 10 years of strategy consulting experience and has managed strategic, due diligence and operational projects in financial services, healthcare, consumer goods, transportation and telecom. He was previously a senior consultant at Roland Berger where he spent 5 years on projects all over Europe, especially in Iberia and France, and a key account manager at Unilever in Portugal. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and an M.A. from Universidade Catolica Portuguesa. Gonçalo speaks fluent Portuguese, Spanish, German, English and French.

Antoine Gelain
Practice leader, Aerospace, Defence and Security
Antoine is a specialist in corporate strategy and an expert in aerospace, defence and security, with more than twenty years of industry experience. After starting his career as a financial analyst for Indosuez Bank in South Korea, he worked for two leading European aerospace & defence companies (now part of EADS) in commercial management and business development roles in the Asia-Pacific region. He later joined Booz Allen & Hamilton (now Booz & co.) in London, where he advised multiple international companies and governments on strategic issues before founding his own strategy and business consulting company Octagon Partners in 2004, specialized in the aerospace, defence and security industry. In 2011, Octagon Partners merged with Candesic and became its aerospace, defence and security practice. Antoine graduated from ESSEC business school in France and holds a MBA from Harvard Business School.
